  • Jul 01, 2016 · Yesterday, all my gauges quit working. I checked the fuse in the cab fuse panel. Fuse was good. I checked power to the ribbon cable on the back of the gauge panel. I have power to the upper left and lower right positions only. Am I missing a fuse position? I replaced the gauge panel (white) last year do to numerous lights being out for the gauges.

When I flip the ignition switch ON ( gets power to tach) the tach moves to the 0 RPM, normally with power off it rests below the 0 RPM.

I would bet if you check resistance and see resistance at the tach sender then it's fine. Then I myself would probably pull the cluster and check the plug there.

    May 18, 2014 · Hi Eveerei, If you're asking about the tachometer and not the speedo meter, that meter records the engine RPM speed and not the vehicle ground speed The tachometer at idle (when you stop at a traffic light, stop street or any other stop) should record an engine speed of about seven hundred to seven fifty revolutions per minute, at idle. Once you find the sensor, unplug it and see if the gauge moves. You can also test the gauges: first hold the odometer reset button for 5 seconds (I think, might be a little longer) then while still holding the odometer button down insert key and turn it to on. Do not start the truck. Then let go of the button.
